Bob is a 40 year veteran of radio, who began his career (under the name Don Bombard) in his hometown of Syracuse, N.Y. There, he developed his announcing skills, and broke into radio by competing with the city's radio stations while still in high school. He compiled and printed a weekly record sales chart which he distributed to local record stores. This brought him to the attention of the two then popular rock and roll stations, WNDR and WOLF, where he eventually worked as an announcer, music director, and programmer. In the late 70's, he moved to Pittsburgh, where he created and hosted the highest rated radio program in the market, The Sunday Night Oldies Party on 13Q (WKTQ).
The early 80's brought him to New York, and to CBS-FM. He originated the nightly Hall of Fame program, and for 19 years was CBS's successful afternoon drive personality. Bob combines an expert's knowledge of the history of popular music with a quick wit, tight production and contemporary commentary.
He also has a number of nationally syndicated radio shows and specials under his belt, including The OldiesCountdown and live nationwide broadcasts from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. He hosted the national three hour weekly program Keepin' The 70's Alive as well as the short form daily show, Behind The Hits, based on his book of the same name.
