New York City native Ron Parker grew up in the Marble Hill area of the Bronx starting his schooling at PS 122. Like other New Yorker’s, Ron developed a love for radio by listening to the legendary personalities on WABC and WMCA.
After majoring in journalism at the University of Georgia, Parker got his break in radio working part time at Atlanta’s legendary Top 40 stations WQXI and Z-93.
Ron headed to Florida for his first full time radio job at 1380 WLCY - Tampa Bay, as Music Director and doing afternoons on the air.
Eventually Ron wound up moving to Houston, Texas and spent most of the ‘80’s working at the very successful Top 40 station KKBQ – 93 Q as Program Director and afternoon drive man. Ron spent nine years at KFRC on air first in the afternoons and eventually settling in as morning host. While at KFRC Ron had an opportunity to host two national shows heard across the country– “Goodtime Oldies Magazine” and “New Gold.”
In 2001, Ron moved back to Houston to program and host the morning show at oldies station 107.5 KLDE.
With the return of WCBS-FM, Ron Parker finds a home back in New York City. He can be heard evenings Monday through Thursday from 7pm to Midnight plus Sunday’s from 3-7pm. While not on the radio broadcasting, Ron enjoys photography, meteorology, movie and record collecting and his favorite foods are pizza, hamburger, and lobster.
