As a 44 year broadcast veteran, Al Meredith has been delivering the local and national news.  He began his career fresh out of high school in 1964 at WGBB in Freeport, Long Island using the air name John Allen.  He then worked at WGSM on Long Island, KSBK in Naha, Okinawa and returned to Long Island to work at WGLI and WBLI before arriving at WCBS-FM.

Al's newscasts are heard each weekday morning during the Dan Taylor Show.  In addition to his news duties, Al is host of the station's award-winning "Dialogue 101" public affairs programming series heard each Sunday morning.

Al is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was assigned to C-130 cargo aircraft and gunships during Vietnam, home based in Naha, Okinawa. He has also been a volunteer firefighter in his hometown since 1964, serving now as a fire police officer and public information officer.  He is a member of the Radio, Television News Directors Association and the National Information Officers Association. Al and his wife Susan live on Long Island.
